To me 'dis-ease' is a catalyst for mission. I don't look at diabetes as a hindrance. Sure it is a pain at times and requires incredible maintenance but I have become the person I am today as a result of challenging adversity and winning. I know every obstacle is a gateway to a fresh road. When I was blind after my 37th eye surgery I kept thinking 'I will dance again.' That was over ten years ago. Now I dance, I teach, I choreograph, direct and hopefully inspire people to tune into their own 'motion potion.'
The SWEET ENUFF Movement has taken on many forms over the years. It has been birthed and rebirthed. Some things have worked, some haven't. Through my travels in the diabetes community I do know that like anybody else, people with diabetes want to feel hopeful. They want to be empowered and inspired and know that yes, we can do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING WE WANT.
So the Movement is just that. it is a means to let go of the ideals and perceptions we have allowed to hold us back in the past. It is a Movement to allow people with diabetes or anybody else for that matter to tap into their highest state of life and create a reality that transcends limitation to expectation of greatness, success and happiness.
Personally I refuse to be limited by the seeming ties that bind me. Diabetes or not, visual challenge or not I will fulfill my wildest dreams and hopefully inspire a lot of people to do the same. Does it take work? Absolutely! Does it take challenging my own negativity and limitations? Absolutely! Does it take stepping away from my ego and arrogance, stepping back and just breathing for a moment Absolutely! But already the rewards are better than any I could even imagine and I can't wait to see what happens next.
More importantly, I await the evolution of everyone else alongside me. To the diabetes community I say:
WELCOME to The SWEET ENUFF Movement!
